Today was an exciting day again. I was able to see some more pigs today. I helped vaccinate sows for Ileitis. I also met the Head of Regional Marketing, Asia for Boehringer Ingelheim. It was very interesting spending some time with him and learning about his experiences. I am still extremely amazed at the contacts I am able to make through this trip. He already has told me to contact him about an international internship next summer. This just goes to show that you never know what path God is going to take you down. I was also able to see a sow necropsied as it had a twisted intestine. I am always intrigued when I am able to get inside of an animal. The landscape was once again a site to see! I have never seen so many green houses as I do in this area. Almost all of them are veggies, or fruits. The watermelon remains the best I have had! I also was able to see a local feed mill. Everything is mixed into 60 Kilo bags then dumped into a truck. All of the ingredients are in bags also! Talk about a lot of work! They can currently mix 4 tons an hour. They also just spread the crops out on the cement to dry. This is also done in the middle of the country roads. I am really starting to miss my American food. Most of the meat over here is cubed, or sliced and has the bones left in it and you actually have to eat around them. We ate at a restaurant called hot pot for supper. Here you place the dishes in a boiling pot at your seat. When the food is cooked, you dip it in your own concoction of dipping sauce.
