Day Eight

Today was a slower day, which was nice as I was able to catch up on some sleep. I went site seeing the rest of the day. They took me to the Yu Garden, which is the oldest part of Shanghai. It was filled with small shops and old style architecture. It was fun to bargaining with the shops over the price of things. At dinner we ate a Shanghai cuisine, it was very good. They said that Shanghai food was often sweeter than the food in Beijing. We then went to The Bund. This is along the Huangpu River. One side has new high rises and the other is old British designed buildings. There about 15 of them and they are all banks! I think Shanghai is a much more beautiful city than Beijing is or the parts that I have seen.  Tonight I had a meal with Jim Sweeney. He had been living here for 4 years, and has been coming to china for about a decade. He took me out for Indian food. He said it was one of the best in the area. He then showed me some streets of Shanghai I could venture to when I had time. He said it is probably one of the safest cities for me to be in especially compared to America.
