Day Six
Today was very unique experience as I was able to attend a Christian church in English. Li Li who is a new graduate student recently at CAU was talked into taking me late Saturday night. It was also Li Li’s first time going to church ever. It was interesting because we actually stood outside of church to line up to enter. We arrived at about 10 30 and the service started at about 11:30 we were in the first quarter of the line. It was a decently big building but it was very full after all, of the people who were waiting made it in. In fact, several people stood around the outside of the sanctuary. They sang several songs most of them were in English but a few where in Chinese. The sermon was a mixture of English and Chinese! After the service, I asked Li Li, what she thought. She explained that she had a feeling inside that moved her! She said it made her happy! She already asked if she could go back with me again! I hope that those who are reading this might spend some time and pray for the Holy Spirit to continue to work in her! I realized that although the people here are very good hearted and nice but they have not been exposed to the word of God! I hope that my time here might result in a few of them seeing something different in me. Belinda asked me about what I was doing before eating one day and that gave me a chance to explain some about my devotions. After church, Li Li took me to the Summer Palace, which is a historical site where the emperor would spend his summers. It covers an expanse of 2.9 square kilometers, three quarters of which is water. The central Kunming Lake covering 2.2 square kilometers was entirely man made and the excavated soil was used to build Longevity Hill. It was extremely beautiful and had covered walkways that stretched on forever it seemed. All of the buildings had unique paintings on them as often seen in movies or pictures depicting Chinese architecture, many of the brick paths also had symbols and designs in them. Pictures do not really do justice of its beauty. I continue to see Gods hand at work every day of my trip here and continue to realize how blessed I am to have this great opportunity.
