Day Ten
Wow ten days in China already! Today was yet another fun day. I spent the day with PIC. I went to their office and talked to Professor Fu. He has been all over the world doing various types of work. We went and had dinner with Jerry Thompson, who is the Asian Regional director for PIC’s mother company. He also had a ton of stories about where the swine industry has brought him. It is so interesting to me how large the international scale of production is and that we are in all honestly just a speck on the map. This afternoon Tori, a PIC employee, took me around the city. It was a lot of fun as we went to a few different places. She took me to Shanghai Museum, which is all about the history of Shanghai and where they are headed. It also had a 1:500th scale set up of Shanghai. It filled an entire floor almost. I can see how it boasts a 23 million population. After that we went to peoples square, Nanjing Road, which in my opinion puts the Magnificent Mile to shame, it was packed with people. 1.7 million people visit it every day! I even saw some pretty famous people there with some really nice cars, first time I have ever seen a Ferrari in person( who would have thought that would be in China) We also went up the Oriental Pearl TV tower, we were 660 odd meters in the air with a glass floor and side. The city is quite amazing at night as everything has a ton of lights on it, boats on the river are like a single light bulb that changes color, every building has some sort of light show on it, it is just amazing to see. My pictures don’t do it justice. However, once again I think I took more pictures with other people than I have of me on my camera. The food today was once again delicious. I had duck for the first time, along with rice noodles, a very spicy Tofu(the best I have had yet). Tomorrow I site see some more and fly out to Xian. Looking forward to a great adventure there!
